I Provide children's entertainment as Living Characters such as a Witch, Mrs. Claus, a Rabbit, a Rag Doll & more for everyone in the surrounding Cedar Rapids Iowa area.
I always provide a quality and professional performance for all ages. I am prompt, courteous, and fair to all. I come prepared to all performances and make all experiences positive and memorable no matter the size of your audience.
As a young child growing up in the 1970's, Virginia enjoyed such children's comedy television shows like HR Puff n Stuff, Captain Kangaroo, & the Electric Company. The youngest of three daughters, Virginia had the ability to learn how to read from her sisters. From talented parents, there grew the love to learn. Our home was filled with doing things together like cooking, sewing, cleaning, reading, music arts, crafts and wonderful humor.
As an adult, Virginia wrote short stories, enjoyed photography, Children's Education in college, became a Den & Pack leader for the Cub Scouts, volunteered with local Humane Societies and worked hard to raise her son.
Virginia met her husband, who had three daughters, and worked hard to raise her growing family. Virginia didn't realize how much she was learning by making things better for everyone around her.
Weekends were family time and we spent many of them at Festivals and events throughout Iowa. I even made all of our costumes as I do for all the characters I perform.
The character "Rainnon The Witch" was developed from the many visits to Renaissance Festivals and the enjoyment of showing children that not all that looks scary is there to scare you. In fact the children find that Rainnon is a fun witch that can be loved for her silly wisdom. At a Renaissance Festival I bought a hat without ever knowing what could transpire. Children recognize the hat to be the vary hat from the Harry Potter stories. I created a gown to go with the hat and then sewed various pieces of material for pockets that are filled with toys and props. I can do several silly magic tricks, some fun spells and tell many tales of fun spooky stories.
Virginia never realized where that hat would take her or how her background in business, teaching, raising four children and volunteering could connect so well with entertaining.
Virginia started taking local classes. Her first entertaining experience was handing out candy as "Rainnon The Witch" at Ushers Ferry Historic Village. Mrs. Claus was a treat for the children in her family that she now extends to yours. Virginia has performed at family reunions, private birthday parties and as a Store Promoter. When she saw how much opportunity there was beyond her own family and friends and how it fit in with her life, Virginia decided it was time to become a full-time entertainer.
At that time, Virginia's business grew from two Characters to many Characters, as well as other entertaining aspects for her performances. Virginia is continually reading, studying, watching, and learning to improve her performances and Characters. She strives to give a professional look and performance to everyone whether it is a family or corporate event, no matter the number in attendance.
Virginia's promise is to give each person her best at each performance. The end result is the experiences of her audiences, of all ages and genders, be entertaining, enjoyable, memorable and so very glad they were able to be a part of the fun.
